HC87451: IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO CREATE SOME DIMENSIONS ON AN ELLIPSE

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• In Tools / Options / Drafting / Dimension, set 'Dimension
  following the mouse (ctrl toggle)' to OFF.
  Some dimensions cannot be created on the ellipse : great
  diameter, small diameter,....
  

Local fix

Problem summary

•  INCIDENT DIAGNOSIS:
  It is impossible to create distance dimensions between a circle
  (or an ellipse) and a line that goes through its center.
  

Problem conclusion

• THIS PROBLEM WILL BE FIXED ON
    CATIA VERSION 5 RELEASE 9 GA level.
  NOTE THAT THIS PROBLEM WILL ALSO BE FIXED ON V5R8SP02.
  
   TECHNICAL EXPLANATION FOR THE CORRECTION:
  This particular case had not been correctly handled (mapping
  of the constraint).
  
   ANSWER AND POSSIBLE BY-PASS:
  This problem has been corrected on V5R8 SP2 and V5R9.
  The distance dimension of value 14 (at right side) and the
  distance dimension of value 9.2 at bottom side can be created
  on V5R8 SP2 and V5 R9.
  .
  It is not possible today to create the dimensions of value 28
  and 18.4.
  The corresponding development has to be planned.
