Error description
. Abstract: EPMR: Replace revision and dependencies . Operating System: WindowsNT Intel V4 SP5 Product Group: CATIA V5R6 Base on WinNT/2000 Showstopper: YES Regression: NO Recommended Fixes Installed: YES . Environment: Windows NT4 SP6, V5R6 GA, TeamPDM 4.0.03, SmDemo.gdb . Problem Description: Launch CATIA and connect to SmDemo.gdb as joe File/open Product_Matrice.CATProduct TeamPDM/Save for create all profil card TeamPDM/Life Cycle/Release for released all documents Search the part CopPneu_V5R3.CATPart and File Operation/Edit Double clickon Revolution1 and modify the angle value TeamPDM/Life Cycle/Release for create release a of CopPneu_V5R3.CATPart Search Product_Matrice.CATProduct and File Operation/Edit Make a New Release for all components except CopPneu_V5R3.CATPart replaced by its release a. In the matrice, verify that the dependencie link with CopPneu_V5R3.CATPart is pointed to the release a. Update the Product in CATIA and TeamPDM/Save. In SmarTeam on this Product, make LifeCycle/release for create release a for Product_Matrice.CATProduct. File Operation/Edit on Product_Matrice release a. We want pointed to the first release of CopPneu_V5R3.CATPart We need to replace CopPneu_V5R3 release a by CopPneu_V5R3 on composition links and also on dependencies links but it isn't possible. When we have replaced all the release a for CopPneu_V5R3, we obtain a message that we have two release for Matrice_DS2.CATPart because we have a dependencie link between pneu and matrice. I send you all documents necessary to reproduce this problem. berceau_theorique.CATPart bersil.xls cale_mat_Xmoins.CATPart cale_mat_Xplus.CATPart CopPneu_V5R3.CATPart LV.xls Matrice_DS2.CATPart Product_Matrice.CATProduct Customer is very blocked by this problem and can't continue to use this product at this time. Can you correct this problem soon as possible please, thank you Slts, Sabine Prudhomme Update From DENIS Christophe ==> $$RSPMNT=CDS$$ <= The File is available under: AIX.: /s/maint5/db/c706/pmr70647248.660 Best Regards, Christophe DENIS.

Problem summary
INCIDENT DIAGNOSIS: When the user defines his options in the check out panel, he wants to get two versions of the part (CopneuV5R3 .catpart) The revision a version and the 'no revision' version. That's not possible because that would means that Smarteam must copy the same file two times in the work directory.Howe ver Catia won't accept to have the same document opened twice in the same session TECHNICAL EXPLANATION FOR THE RESTRICTION: A simple bypass for this problem is to check in the check out panel that only one revision of an object is using. By default if all the files are linked by hierarchical links ( as in SMCAtiadeMO db) there is no problem because performing a 'switch to selected revision' on one composition of the part updates all the compositions.MAy be hierarchical and logical links are mixed because there is a problem of updating a version with parts that are linked by a logical links. Another APAR should have been sended to SmartSolutions concerning these revisions and dependancies problem ( it is the APAR HC82218 from PMR 47019). We recommand to use hierarchical links beetween two parts in the case of geometry dependance.
