• Scenario:
  1. Open the model
  2. Go to SKIN/FEATURE/SKIN/LOFT
  3. Select the first section and a surface for tangency
  4. Select the second section and a surface for tangency
  5. Check the good orientation of the arrows
  6. Yes to continue
  7. Yes accept default spine
  8. Select limit switch and the blue curve  limit crv3
  9. Select a first limit curve
  10. Select a second limit curve
  11. Yes compute
  12. Error message: curve not normal to the spine
  

Local fix

Problem summary

• The default spine is not good for all loft creations.
  Error message : Curve not normal to the spine.
  

Problem conclusion

• THIS PROBLEM IS PERMANENT RESTRICTION IN CATIA
  
  The default spine computed for LOFT creation cannot always
  statisfy SURF2 criteria.
  The default spine satisfy the following criteria : it is
  perpendicular to the loft section plane. It is computed with
  CURVE2/SPINE. For the loft creation this spine is relimited by
  first and last sections extremities projections.
  In the case of this model, each extremity of one section is
  projected in two points on the spine, one of these projections
  is in the middle of the spine. Then, the relimited spine is not
  cutting one generative curve anymore.
  All these criteria cannot be taken into account for default
  spine computing, it is not possible.
  .
  BY-PASS:
  If the user reverses the sections selection, the spine will be
  relimited and the loft creation will work fine.
