Comments
With this APAR, z/VSE 6.2 provides support for the System Recovery Boost function on the IBM z15 server. - General purpose processors (CPs) running at subcapacity can be boosted to full capacity for a limited time. During IPL and standalone dump processing, these processors will be boosted for up to 60 minutes; during system shutdown, these processors will be boosted for up to 30 minutes. - The z/VSE system automatically enables the boost during IPL and during standalone dump processing. - To enable the boost for system shutdown, use the SYSDEF SYSTEM command. - The SYSDEF SYSTEM command has been extended by a new parameter to enable and to disable the boost: SYSDEF SYSTEM,BOOST=START to enable the boost during system shutdown and SYSDEF SYSTEM, BOOST=STOP to disable both the IPL and shutdown boost. - If a boost is not terminated using the SYSDEF SYSTEM,BOOST= STOP command, the z/VSE system will automatically stop the boost after the respective IPL or shutdown boost period has expired. The remaining minutes don't carry over to a following boost. - The SIR command output has been extended by a new indication 'RECOVERY BOOST ACTIVE' that is displayed when a boost is active. It is also displayed in a z/VM guest environment when the z/VM system has a boost active. - The QUERY SYSTEM command output displays the current System Recovery Boost status of the system. - When using REIPL command subsequent IPL and/or shutdown boosts may fail. Use the HMC/SE Load Task as circumvention.
