Error description
During redisplay of console messages, the VSE JOB and EOJ messages are corrupted. For both type of messages, the first line is shown as blanks, only the second line with the DATE and CLOCK values is displayed correctly. This is probably related to an excessive use of the DYQ queue (the console router queue for delayed messages).

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users with high load of console * * messages. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: During redisplay of console messages, * * the VSE JOB and EOJ messages are * * corrupted. For both type of messages, * * the first line is shown as blanks, * * only the second line with the DATE and * * CLOCK values is displayed correctly. * * In this situation it may also happen * * that redisplay processing enters an * * infinite loop. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: Install PTF. * **************************************************************** This problem is caused by an excessive us of the DYQ queue (the console router queue for delayed messages). In the problem situation the DYQ queue is excessively being used because there are many "open" (to-be-connected) messages left over because they could not be sent to a specific console. These messages are multi-line messages in response to commands (eg. VTAM command: D NET,BFRUSE) which have been sent from a console which disconnected itself before all command responses could successfully be delivered to it. This excessive use of the DYQ queue reduces the number of free message buffers / lines to 0. Thus it may happen that the HCF task when asking for a free msg buffer with 1 or more message lines does not get all message lines or does not get a routing item at all.
Problem conclusion
This APAR will provide following 3 corrections: 1. When a message can not be sent to an explicitly requested console always reset the "to-be-connected" flag. This ensures that the messages does not stay in the DYQ queue. (IJBCSEQ1-QMADD) 2. Ensure that a requested free routing item (message buffer) always has all message lines attached as requested. (IJBCSEQ2-QMGEMPTY) 3. Ensure that GETEMPRI is not stuck in a loop or in an endless wait when there is no free routing item available. (IJHCCOR-GETEMPRI)
