IBM Support

AOFTABL library not allocated

Troubleshooting

Problem

Noticed the following message trying to select Message/User Data, after selecting options, 1 Edit, 33 MVC, then MVS_COMPONENTS, from
the SAz/OS ISPF dialogs:
AOFTABL library not allocated

Symptom

Unable to work in the PDB.

Cause

This problem was caused by the AOFTABL DDNAME from not being allocated as documented.
Prior to the APAR mentioned below, this issue also occurred when going into the SAz/OS ISPF dialogs in split screen mode, then exiting the dialogs once, thus freeing certain data sets, so when you tried to continue working in the other session, error messages occurred.  To get out of this situation (if you don't have the APAR installed, is to just exit all SAz/OS ISPF dialog sessions, and go back into the dialogs again, thus allocating the required data sets)

Diagnosing The Problem

Access the SAz/OS ISPF Customization Dialogs, and use the TSO ISRDDN command to confirm Current Data Set Allocations.  You should see something like:

Resolving The Problem

The System Automation for z/OS 4.1 A Planning & Installation  and  System Automation for z/OS 4.1 Defining Automation Policy  publications
contain explanations about AOFTABL.  See the following links below.
APAR OA57428 (PTF UA99536) was taken to resolve the issue with the SAz/OS ISPF dialogs
