ANS1809W on client schedule when server terminates

Problem

Session is lost errors are seen in the client's dsmerror.log if the Tivoli Storage Manager server ends normally or abnormally while a client schedule is running.

Symptom

The following error is logged in the client dsmerror.log :

ANS1809W Session is lost; initializing session reopen procedure.

Cause

Working as designed

Resolving The Problem

If the Tivoli Storage Manager server is stopped when a client schedule is running, the client will treat this action as a communication failure. The client will attempt to re-establish the communication with the server based on the Commrestartduration and Commrestartinterval client options. This is when the ANS809W error is logged and if the server is up and running again before the Commrestartduration is reached, the client schedule will resume its work.
