Problem
Cognos Analytics 11 requires that a user have Execute permissions to view or create Dashboards which also provides the ablity to creaet, edit and save dashboards. How can users be provided ability to view Dashboards without having ability to edit, save or create new Dashboards?
Resolving The Problem
New features added to Cognos Analytics 11.0.5 allow you to customize Groups and Roles to remove functionality that prevents ability to create, edit and save Dashboards.
Steps:
1. Click Manage > Accounts
2. Click the namespace with Group or Role you want to customize
3. Go to Group or Role Properties > Customization tab
4. Click Features to customize
5. Expand Dashboard
6. Expand Navigation Bar > New
7. Remove check for Dashboard. You can remove Story also.
8. Expand Application bar
9. Remove check for Save options, and Edit or Preview buttons
Members of the Group or Role will be able to open and view Dashboards but not be able to create new Dashboards nor edit or save Dashboards.
