Abstract
Specify a parameter as input/output
Content
You are in: IBM i Technology Updates > Welcome to IBM Integrated Web Services for i Technology Updates > Allow parameters as inputoutput
What is it?
REST web service parameters were restricted to a usage of input or output. The parameter restriction was also true for SOAP web services when the Detect length fields option was selected.
The IWS server now allows parameters to be designated with a usage of input/output. Input/output parameters provide values to and return values from the web service.
Why use it?
Some of the benefits of input/output parameters include:
- Efficiency, due to one parameter being passed to the web service implementation code.
- Simplicity, due to the processing of one parameter.
- Promotes reusability of web service implementation code based on ILE programs or service programs, due to not having to modify the program or service program.
