Problem
After installing an IBM ServeRAID M5115 SAS/SATA Controller, Option part number 90Y4390, into an IBM Flex System x220 Compute Node, the on-board Local Area Network (LAN) controller of the Flex System is disabled in the Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) Basic Input/Output System (BIOS) settings.

Symptom
After installing an IBM ServeRAID M5115 SAS/SATA Controller, Option part number 90Y4390, into an IBM Flex System x220 Compute Node, the on-board Local Area Network (LAN) controller of the Flex System is disabled in the Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) Basic Input/Output System (BIOS) settings.
Affected configurations
The system may be any of the following IBM servers:
- Flex System x220 Compute Node, type 2585, any model
- Flex System x220 Compute Node, type 7906, any model
The system is configured with one or more of the following IBM Options:
- ServeRAID M5115 SAS/SATA Controller, Option part number 90Y4390, any replacement part number (CRU)
This tip is not software specific.
The following system BIOS or UEFI level(s) are affected:
- KSE114DUS
Solution
This issue is resolved in the IBM UEFI firmware version 1.10 Build ID: KSE116B or later.
The file is available by selecting the appropriate Product Group, type of System, Product name, Product machine type, and Operating system on IBM Support's Fix Central web page, at the following URL:
Additional information
Before UEFI version 1.10 Build ID: KSE116B, when users install ServeRAID M5115, UEFI set a wrong Platform Controller Hub (PCH) register value to disable the on-board LAN.
