After I log in to the i2 Investigation web client, I get an error "The application failed to start."

Troubleshooting

Problem

I deployed and successfully started the opal-server in i2 Enterprise Insight Analysis (EIA). When I am on the EIA server, to test the Investigate Add-on web client, I enter the following url in a browser:

  http://localhost:9082/opal

I get the log in screen. After I log in, I get an error:

Application error The application failed to start. Refresh your browser to try again.

Cause

For improved security, the web socket connection checks that the client uses the correct URL to connect to the opal-server.

If you use an IP address, or you are not using the fully qualified host name in the url, you get the same error. Basically, the url needs to use the host name specified in your topology.xml file.

Resolving The Problem

The only url that you can use is displayed in the output of the toolkit start command (setup -t start) as well as in the console.log

For example, at the end of the toolkit start command output:
