IBM Support

After adding a newline and typing text into the rich text editor, the text and the cursor jump to the previous line

Troubleshooting

Problem

In IBM Rational Software Architect, if you create a newline by typing CTRL + Enter at the end of a line in the Properties > Documentation window (with the rich text editor), and then start typing on the new line, the text and the cursor will jump to the previous line.

Symptom

The following steps reproduce the problem:

  1. Ensure that the Window > Preferences > Modeling > Text > Enable rich text editor is activated
  2. Open a UML model and create a new class
  3. Select the class and go to Properties > Documentation
  4. Type some text into the Documentation window
  5. Enter CTRL + Enter to create a newline

Result: The cursor appears in the next row, as expected.
  6. Type some text in the new row

Expected Result: The text remains on the new line.

Actual Result: The cursor and text return to the previous line and the text is typed there instead of on the new line.
