Adding a Fuel Index Definition

About this task

Use the Add Fuel Index Definition pageto create a custom fuel index. A fuel index consists of one or morePetroleum Administration Defense Districts (PADDs). After you createthe fuel index you assign the fuel price for each PADD in the index.

Procedure

To create a custom fuel index follow these steps:

  1. Enter a name for the fuel index. Each name must be uniquefor your organization.

  2. Enter a description of the fuel index. If you create manyfuel indexes the description can help you identify each index.
  3. Select the PADDs you want to use for this fuel index:
  4. Select a PADD in the PADDs Defined listand then click Add to include it in your fuelindex.
  5. Select a PADD in the PADDs Assigned listand then click Remove to take it out of yourfuel index. The PADD is listed again in the PADDs Defined list.
    Note: You cannot remove a PADD that has already been used tocalculate a fuel accessorial in a Sterling TMS contract.
  6. Select a PADD and click View tosee which U.S. states are in that region.
  7. Click Select Area to create yourown PADD. For example you might want to define a PADD that consistsof one state or one city.
  8. Click Save to save your changes.
