Symptom
This is a method for users to update microcode on their CFFh and CFFv adapters on BladeCenter JS22 (Type 7998).
Affected configurations
The system may be any of the following IBM servers:
- BladeCenter JS22, type 7998, any model
The system is configured with one or more of the following IBM Options:
- BladeCenter SAS Expansion Card (CFFv), Option 39Y9190
- Cisco 4X InfiniBand DDR Expansion Card (CFFh) for BladeCenter, Option 43W4421
- Emulex 4 Gb Fibre Channel expansion Card (CFFv) for IBM BladeCenter, Option 43W6859
- Ethernet Expansion (CFFv) Card for IBM BladeCenter, Option 39Y9310
- QLogic 4 Gb Fibre Channel Expansion (CFFv) Card for IBM BladeCenter, Option 41Y8527
- QLogic Ethernet and 4 Gb Fibre Channel Expansion Card (CFFh) for IBM BladeCenter, Option 39Y9306
- QLogic iSCSI Expansion Card for BladeCenter, Option 32R1923
- Voltaire 4X InfiniBand DDR Expansion Card (CFFh) for BladeCenter, Option 43W4420

Solution
Below is a method for users to update microcode:

Create a directory on Virtual Input/Output Server (VIOS) as padmin:
# mkdir microcode -
FTP microcode update to that directory. Microcode is available for the following cards at the associated links:
Cisco 4X IB SDR:
Cisco Systems SDR 4x InfiniBand HCA firmware update Emulex 4 Gb Fibre Channel:
Emulex 4Gb fibre channel expansion card firmware QLogic iSCSI TOE:
Essential Software for the QLogic iSCSI TOE Expansion card QLogic 4 Gb Fibre Channel:
QLogic 4Gb Fibre Channel Expansion Card Multiboot Image No code updates have been made to the LSI SAS card or Mellanox 4X IB DDR cards since they started shipping end of 2007. No code update is available for the Broadcom Ethernet adapter.

Mount the newly created directory to /etc/microcode directory:
# mount microcode /etc/microcode - Run the Diagnostics menu and apply the update.
- Unmount microcode.
