Ad Hoc Reporting User Roles
The ad hoc reporting system uses standard Sterling TMS security rolesto control the Cognos? toolsand information that each user can access. Your Sterling TMS shipper administratorassigns these roles in the Set Up Users step of Shipper Configuration.
Shipperusers can be assigned to one of the following Reporting roles:
- Reporter
The user can run standard Sterling TMS reports. Thesereports use one of the following reporting systems:
- Business Objects reports such as data extracts. On the SterlingTMS Reporting page click Existing Reports toview these reports.
- Cognos Connection reportswhich provide additional views into Sterling TMS shipping data.On the Sterling TMS Reporting page click New Reports toopen Cognos Connection.
- Report Author
The user can develop complex Sterling TMS reports in Cognos Report Studio or run adhoc queries in Cognos QueryStudio.
If you assign a user to the Report Author role the ReportStudio and Query Studio buttonsare enabled on the Sterling TMS Reporting page.
- Report Administrator
This role is designed to let your reporting administrator assignthe reporting roles for Sterling TMS users:
- The administrator can add and edit Sterling TMS user profilesbut cannot access other steps of Shipper Configuration.
- The report administrator can use certain Cognos administration features such as settingup report folders.
You can only assign one user in your organization as the reportadministrator.
- None
The user does not have access to Sterling TMS reports.
In addition other Sterling TMS roles controlwhich reports a user can see:
- To view Execution Performance reports the user must be assignedto one of the Execution user roles in Sterling TMS.
- To view Cost Performance reports the user must be assigned toone of the Freight Payment user roles in Sterling TMS.
