Problem
This document provides Active Memory Sharing (AMS) requirements.
Resolving The Problem
The minimum requirements for Active Memory Sharing are as follows:
Note: Virtual opti-connect cannot be enabled.

| Hardware | POWER6 processor-based server | This hardware level is required as it provides the mechanism to enable AMS. |
| Managed system firmware | 340_031 | Verify this on the ASMI home screen. |
| PowerVM | Enterprise Edition | A hardware feature code, or CoD-enabled feature. |
| o HMC o IVM | Code: V7R3.4.0 Same as Virtual I/O Server | Check this on HMC/IVM home screen. Use Updates link to check version. |
| Virtual I/O Server | 2.1.0.0 | Issue ioslevel at the VIOS shell. |
| AIX | 6.1.3.0 | Issue oslevel -s at the AIX shell. |
| IBM i | IBM i 6.1, plus latest cumulative PTF package, plus: SI32798 SI32365 SI32397 SI32049 | Issue DSPPTF at the IBM i prompt. Note: Virtual OptiConnect cannot be enabled. |
Notes:

3. For AMS to run on a Blade, VIOS level 2.1.1.0 or newer is required and the Blade must be a POWER7 Blade.
