Action buttons are missing in TM1Web for published Excel spreadsheets

Question & Answer

Question

Action buttons on sheets that are published to TM1 Web are missing when viewed on the web. How can this be resolved?

Cause

Microsoft Excel that is installed on the web server is missing the 'Visual Basic for Application' component. If you open the Excel application on the web server, you can tell if the component is not installed as you should get a message as follows:

This workbook has lost its VBA project, ActiveX controls and any other programmability-related features

Answer

1. On the web server, go to add/remove programs and select Microsoft Office in the list and click on the Change button.

2. Choose "add or remove features"

3. Expand 'Office shared Features' and select Visual Basic for Applications.

4. Once you have installed the component, delete all files in the following folders (these are temp files only):

C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\TM1WebEx\ExcelSheet
C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\TM1WebEx\UserTempDir

5. Restart IIS and the TM1ExcelService.

6. Start a new browser session and check your reports to make sure the action buttons now appear.
