Question

How do I access the web user interface of an IBM MessageSight appliance?

Cause

The IBM MessageSight appliance provides a web-based user interface which is intended for most administration and monitoring of the appliance.

Answer

You can access the Web UI of an IBM MessageSight appliance if you know its Web UI IP address and port, and an administrator name and password. The default Web UI IP addresses to use is the one assigned to the management interface when the machine was configured, and the default port is 9087, but either may be changed.

If you do not know the Web UI address and port used by your MessageSight appliance, log in to the MessageSight command line interface using the KVM console and check:

    WebUIHost = 192.0.2.2

    Console> imaserver get WebUIPort
    WebUIPort = 9087



If the WebUIHost shows an asterisk, then the Web UI is available on any configured IP address. Display the ethernet interfaces to determine which addresses to use for the Web UI, for example:

Use one of the supported web browsers to connect to the Web UI which will be available at https://IP_Address:Port/login.jsp or https://Host_Name:Port/login.jsp. If you are connecting to an IPv6 address, be sure to enclose it in square brackets, followed by a colon and the port number, for example: https://[2001:db8::42ee:a1df:c1a:a2]:9087/login.jsp.




After logging on using an administrative user name and password you can access the IBM MessageSight Web UI. If your user name is a member of the SystemAdministrators group, you can change the Web UI settings selecting the "Appliance" tab and clicking on the "Web UI Setting" option:
