Replacing a drive in a Distributed RAID array may cause all nodes or node canisters to reboot simultaneously, resulting in a temporary loss of host access.
This issue affects any arrays using Distributed RAID and releases V7.7.1.0 or V7.7.1.1. Earlier releases or arrays using Traditional RAID are not affected by this issue.
Failed drives in affected systems should not be replaced unless under guidance from IBM Support.
Fix:
This issue is resolved by APAR HU01272 in the V7.7.1.2 PTF release.
If a drive fails in a Distributed RAID array on a system running V7.7.1.0 or V7.7.1.1 before the system has been upgraded to a fixed level, contact IBM Support for guidance on how to safely replace the drive.
