This document contains Access IBM usage tips to be used when Access IBM menu entries become invalid after upgrading the currently installed operating system Microsoft Windows 2000.
Resolving The Problem
This document contains Access IBM usage tips to be used when Access IBM menu entries become invalid after upgrading the currently installed operating system (Microsoft Windows 9x or Windows NT) to Windows 2000.

Symptom

Access IBM backup configuration loses functionality
After upgrading to Windows 2000, the following error message is displayed when attempting to access the Backup Configuration utility. "Configsafe.exe Could Not be Found".

Solution

Configsafe must be upgraded to the Windows 2000 compatible version. To download the configsafe upgrade, visit http://www.configsafe.com/ibm/softup.html . The invalid Backup Configuration entry in Access IBM can be removed by downloading and running the Accupdt.exe utility. Click here to download the Accupdt.exe utility.

Access IBM view system utility loses functionality
After upgrading to Windows 2000, clicking the System Information entry in Access IBM returns an
error message, or displays invalid information. The System Information utility is not supported in
Windows 2000.

The invalid System Information entry in Access IBM can be removed by downloading and running the Accupdt.exe utility. Click here to download the Accupdt.exe utility.

Access IBM virus scan link loses functionality
After upgrading to Windows 2000, clicking the Virus Scan entry in Access IBM returns the following error message, "Norton.exe could not be found". Earlier versions of Norton AntiVirus are not supported in Windows 2000.

Access IBM "partition HDD" loses functionality
After upgrading to Windows 2000, the following error message is displayed when selecting "Partition Your Hard Drive" in Access IBM: "Cannot find file Windisk.exe". The Windisk.exe utility is not supported in Windows 2000.

Symptom

Windows 2000 upgrade stops after uninstalling Access IBM
When Access IBM is uninstalled before upgrading to Windows 2000, the Windows 2000 upgrade halts with the following, or similar, error message: "Some software is not completely uninstalled on the system. The upgrade cannot continue". The error message is caused by a Windows registry entry remaining after Access IBM is uninstalled.

This registry entry can be removed by downloading and running the Accupdt.exe utility. Click here to download the Accupdt.exe utility.
Note: Access IBM menu entries that become invalid after upgrading to Windows 2000 can be recreated using the Customize Access IBM Wizard after a Windows 2000 compatible version of the application has been installed.
