When the shipper submits a tender to your company the shipperselects a tendering method. The fields on the Accept Tender page changebased on the tendering method.

The following tendering methods are available in Sterling TMS:

Sequential

The shipper has tendered the shipment to a list of carriersone at a time:

• Sterling TMS usesthe rate defined in the contract for each carrier. The shipper cannotchange the contracted rate.
• You do not see the rate when you receive the tender.
• If you accept the tender Sterling TMS awards theshipment to your company.

Manual

The shipper is only tendering the shipment to your company:

• Sterling TMS usesthe rate defined in the contract with your company. The shipper cannotchange the contracted rate.
• You do not see the rate when you receive the tender.
• If you accept the tender Sterling TMS awards theshipment to your company.

Your shipper can also submit a direct tender to your company.The shipper submits the tender to one carrier which does not havea valid contract rate stored in Sterling TMS for the shipment.

Broadcast

The shipper tenders the shipment to multiple carriers at thesame time. The shipment is awarded to the first carrier to acceptthe tender:

• Sterling TMS usesthe rate defined in the contract for each carrier. The shipper cannotchange the contracted rate.
• You do not see the rate when you receive the tender.

Broadcast for Capacity

The shipper tenders the shipment to multiple carriers at thesame time:

• The shipper usually includes an initial offer amount which overridesthe contracted rates.
• You can accept this offer or submit a bid with a different amount.
• After the carriers respond to the tender the shipper selectsthe carrier to take the load.

Some shippers refer to this tendering method as a broadcastfor bid tender.

Broadcast for Review

The shipper tenders the shipment to multiple carriers at thesame time:

• The shipper includes an initial offer amount which overridesthe contracted rates.
• You can accept this offer but cannot submit a bid with a differentamount.
• After carriers respond to the tender the shipper can select thecarrier to take the load.
