Troubleshooting
Problem
This technote describes how Deterministic Network Enhancer (DNE) can cause conflicts with IBM® Rational® ClearCase® network packets resulting in errors like []albd_rgy_get_entry call failed: RPC: Timed out[].
Symptom
Attempts to run commands such as cleartool lsvob and cleartool lsview result in the following error:
albd_rgy_get_entry call failed: RPC: Timed out
cleartool: Error: Trouble contacting registry on host "<host-name>": timed out trying to communicate with ClearCase remote server.
Deterministic Network Enhancer or DNE will create these symptoms.
Additional symptoms:
- DNE prevents albd_rgy_get_entry from returning results on lsvob if there are more than two VOBs.
- DNE prevents albd_rgy_get_entry from returning results on lsview if there are more than five views.
