When you establish your community you work with IBM? todevelop and deploy the business documents that you want your businesspartners to exchange with you. For example you can set up a purchaseorder that your business partners complete and send to you. If necessaryyour business documents can include information that changes periodically.For example you could include product descriptions and prices aspart of a purchase order.

This variable data comes from your company's internalbusiness systems and changes over time. You can include variable datain your business documents dynamically so that the data populatesfields and drop-down list boxes in the business document. To providethis functionality for your community you set up a data store on Sterling Web Forms.

A datastore is information that resides in a table in the database on the Sterling Web Forms server thathosts your community. Your business documents are HTML-based pagesthat call data from the tables on the Web server and display it inthe business document as your business partners work with the document.

  • You work with IBM technicalpersonnel to set up a data store including determining the numberand type of data stores that you need.
  • You provide the initial data by submitting a tab-delimited orcomma-delimited file to IBM technicalpersonnel.
  • After your data store is established you use the Sterling Web Forms Administrationsite to maintain your data store including adding and deleting itemsand uploading revised data. The options on the Data Stores menu correspondto the data stores established for your community.data store
