About Contract Levels
Each contract that you define contains three levels:
- Contract
Defines the general contract information such as the typeof contract the carrier and the contract dates.
- Section
Each contract can contain one or more sections. You can definea section for each carrier fleet and indicate whether the fleet isdedicated preferred or private.
You can also define a sectionby the rating method such as Flat Rate or Full Route Distance. Thereare many other characteristics you can assign for each section suchas Equipment Type Movement Type and Service Type.
- Lane
Each contract section contain one or more rating lanes.Lanes are the routes used by Sterling TMS to calculateshipment charges for freight that is delivered from the origin tothe destination.
In the lane level of the contract you specify:
- The origin and destination of the lane
- How the line haul charge is calculated such as the full routedistance or a flat rate
