Zero Cost in Actuals

Question & Answer

Question

Is the ability to cancel an approved Work Order after entering materials (with a 0 cost) in Actuals tab a working-as-designed?

Cause

Scenario 1:
1. Go to Work Order Tracking --> Create a New Work Order

2. Go to Plans tab --> Enter an item
- 61503
- Qty - 1
- Unit Cost - 65
- Storeroom - Central

3. Save and approve this work order

4. Go to Actuals Tab --> Materials --> New Row
- 61503
- Qty - 1
- Unit Cost - 65
- Storeroom - Central

5. Save the record --> Change Status --> CANCELLED option is not
visible (THAT IS CORRECT)

Scenario 2:

1. Go to Work Order Tracking --> Create a New Work Order

2. Go to Plans tab --> Enter an item
- 11453 (Ensure that standard cost and average cost is 0 by making the
changes in this item's Select Action --> Inventory Adjustments)
- Qty - 1
- Unit Cost - 0
- Storeroom - MACHSHOP

3. Save and approve this work order

4. Go to Actuals Tab --> Materials --> New Row
- 11453
- Qty - 1
- Unit Cost - 0
- Storeroom - MACHSHOP

5. Save the record --> Change Status --> CANCELLED option is visible
and this work can be cancelled.

User viewpoint:

- As per existing IBM guidelines, a work order cannot be cancelled
after data is entered on the Actuals tab.
- In scenario 2, you should not be able to cancel the work order
after issuing the material on the Actuals tab.

Answer

The product design team have confirmed that a user is able to cancel a Work Order as long as the Material has a zero cost associated to it.
