Abstract

The IBM Active PCI Software provides a complete PCI Hot Plug solution on Microsoft Windows 2000. The IBM Active PCI Software is comprised of the IBM Active PCI Filter Driver, the IBM Active PCI Alert Driver, and the IBM Active PCI Alert Service.

Severity: Critical

Note: You must install the latest BIOS available from the Web before installing the IBM ActivePCI Software.

  1. Install the latest BIOS on the system.
  2. Download the IBM ActivePCI Software (from the File Details section above) and extract the files onto a diskette.
  3. Insert the diskette into the floppy drive.
  4. Double-click Hardware Wizard from the System Properties window, or double-click Add/Remove Hardware from the Control Panel.
  5. Click Next .
  6. Select Add/Troubleshoot a device and click Next .
  7. Highlight the Unknown device and click Next . DO NOT SELECT Add a new device.
  8. Click Finish.
  9. Follow the instructions on the setup wizard until the program is installed. (Make sure to click search for a suitable device driver when prompted.)
  10. Reboot. The IBM ActivePCI Software will be installed and started. The IBM ActivePCI Device is represented in the Device Manager as "IBM ActivePCI Device" under the "System devices" class.
  11. A reboot will be required to configure the IBM ActivePCI Filter Driver.
