If the switch module that you are replacing is working, begin with step 1. If the switch module that you are replacing is not working, skip steps 1 and 2 and begin with step three (3).
- Using the command-line interface (CLI), run the configUpload command to save the configuration file to the host workstation. (See the configUpload command description in the Brocade Fabric OS Reference for more information.)
-
Access and record the License ID information from the switch module using one of the following methods:
- Using Advanced WebTools, click the Switch Info button underneath the illustration of the switch. The License ID of the switch module is displayed on the switch information panel. This number is in the form 10:00:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx, where xx values are unique to each switch module.
- Using CLI: To connect to the switch module using Telnet program, from a command prompt entertelnet [switchipaddr] (where switchipaddr is the IP address of the switch module), login as USERID user and enter your switch module password. Enter the licenseidshow command. This command displays the License ID of the switch module.
- Replace the defective switch module with the replacement switch module. (See the Brocade Entry/Enterprise SAN Switch Modules Installation Guide for detailed instructions for replacing the switch module.)
- If you were able to save the configuration file in step 1, run the configDownload command to copy the saved switch configuration file to the replacement switch module. (See the configDownload command in the Brocade Fabric OS Reference for more information.)
- Obtain the worldwide name (WWN) from both the defective and the replacement switch modules. The WWN is located on the side or front labels of the switch module.
- Enter the following information: your e-mail address, defective switch module WWN, and the replacement switch module WWN. Enter the replacement switch module WWN into the WWN/License ID field.
Note: Do not use the “FRU Motherboard Information” field.
-
Click Continue. Follow the instructions on the Web pages to obtain License IDs for the replacement switch module. Record the information in the following list:
- Switch Module WWN: _____________________________________________
- Feature 1 Activation Key/License ID: _________________________________
- Feature 2 Activation Key/License ID: _________________________________
- Feature 3 Activation Key/License ID: _________________________________
- Feature 4 Activation Key/License ID: _________________________________
- To enable the licensed features, with the replacement switch module installed in the BladeCenter unit, log into the switch module using your USERID account; then, use the licenseAdd command. Detailed instructions for activating your key are provided on the Web page that contains the feature activation key.
