General informationNetfinity servers supporting Ultra SCSI hot-swap hard disk drives (HDDs) can be updated to the latest 7,200 rpm and 10,000 rpm drive technologies. These new, 1-inch, slim-high form factor drive options allow you to double the storage capacity of supported Netfinity servers.
The NETFINITY 36.4 GB(1) 10K WIDE ULTRA SCSI HOT-SWAP SL HDD and the NETFINITY 36.4 GB WIDE ULTRA SCSI HOT-SWAP SL HDD options are supported in the following Netfinity servers:
- Netfinity 5000
- Netfinity 5500
- Netfinity 5500 M10
- Netfinity 5500 M20
- Netfinity 7000
- Netfinity 7000 M10
In addition to doubling data storage capacities,these HDD options have been rigorously tested for compatibility and reliability with supported Netfinity products through the ServerProven program. This extra testing gives you the confidence these options will perform with consistency and reliability in your demanding enterprise server environment.

Hardware requirements for IBM systems
The Netfinity 36.4 10,000 rpm and 7,200 rpm HDD options are supported only in the hot-swap drive bays of the following supported Netfinity servers. They must be attached to either the standard RAID controller, the standard SCSI controller, or to a supported RAID or SCSI adapter(*).
Hardware requirements for non-IBM systems

Software requirements
There are no software requirements. These drive options are compatible with the network operating systems supported by the servers or external storage units in which they are installed.
Compatibility
These HDD options adhere to the SCSI-3 ANSI X3.131:1994 standard and are designed to be compatible with systems configured with Wide Ultra SCSI and SCSI-2 controllers that support this specification.
