Abstract

This collection of fixes will update IBM® Rational® Programming Patterns for System z™ V8.0.1

Download Description

IBM Rational Programming Patterns for System z V8.0.1.1 Fix Pack contains updates to the Client component of Rational Programming Patterns for System z. There are currently no updates to the Server component. Refer to the List of APARs, which contains the Fix contents, and the installation instructions.

Prerequisites

This update requires that you have the following products and Fix Packs installed on Windows®:

  • IBM Installation Manager v1.4.1 or later
  • IBM Rational® Developer for System z V8.0.1 or any future Fix Pack
  • IBM Rational® Team Concert V3.0 or any future Fix Pack
  • IBM Rational® Programming Patterns for System z V8.0.1


Updates to these products can be installed at the same time as Fix Pack 8.0.1.1.

If you disabled any product features by modifying the feature.xml files or through the Update Manager by clicking Help > Software Updates > Manage Configuration in the workbench, you must enable them before you install this update.

Installation Instructions

This Fix Pack is provided as an update and installed using IBM Installation Manager. The update is generally installed directly from the IBM update server; however you can also choose to download an archive file that contains the update and then use IBM Installation Manager to perform local installations.

Please see the Installation instructions below for further information.


Option 1 - Install update directly from IBM update server

  1. Start IBM Installation Manager from the Windows Start menu. By default this is under Start → All Programs → IBM Installation Manager → IBM Installation Manager.
  2. Click Update.
  3. Select the package group in which you installed IBM Rational Programming Patterns for System z. The default is IBM Software Development Platform. The Installed Packages list at the bottom of the panel should show IBM Rational Programming Patterns for System z as one of the entries. Click Next.
  4. Update Installation Manager, if required.
  5. Select IBM Rational Programming Patterns for System z Version 8.0.1. Select any other required or optional updates from the list of available updates. Any updates you already have installed will be displayed in grey and will not be
    selectable. Click Next.
  6. Read and accept the license agreements for the selected updates, and then follow the remaining installation dialogs to install the selected updates.
  7. Select Next to update the features you have installed.
  8. Review your selections on the Summary panel. If you want to make any changes to your selections, click Back and make your changes. When you are ready to install the update, click Update.
  9. When the updates are complete, a message will be displayed by IBM Installation Manager informing you that updates were successfully installed.
  10. Exit IBM Installation Manager and start IBM Rational Developer for System z from the Windows Start menu to begin using the product.


Option 2 - Download the update to be installed locally

It is recommended that the install is performed by connecting to the IBM update server, but an archive file that contains the update is available for those who may need it for the following reasons:
  • Would like to download Rational Programming Patterns for System z Fix Pack V8.0.1.1, but install at a later time.
  • Have slow or unstable internet connections and would like to use a download manager with resume capability.
  • Have trouble accessing the live IBM update server from behind firewalls.
  • Are site administrators for a group of developers who do not have direct access to the internet.


If you choose to download Fix Pack 8.0.1.1 instead of using the Installation Manager capability within the IBM update server, then:

  1. Download the 8.0.1.1-Rational-RPPz-FP01 fix pack package from Fix Central on the support website. This package contains the following files:
    • RPPz801FixPack8011.zip
    • RPPz801FixPack8011_readme.txt
    • RPPz_8011_fixpack.pdf

  2. Follow the installation instructions in RPPz_8011_fixpack.pdf using the extracted contents of RPPz801FixPack8011.zip. RPPz_8011_fixpack.pdf may be obtained from the 8.0.1.1-Rational-RPPz-FP01 fix pack package downloaded from Fx Central, or from the IBM Publications Center.
  3. Extract the contents of RPPz801FixPack8011.zip to a folder on your system. These files are temporary and may be deleted after the installation is completed.

Download the 8.0.1.1-Rational-RPPz-FP01 fix pack package from Fix Central on the support website. This package contains the following files:


  • RPPz801FixPack8011.zip is the archive file that contains the update
  • RPPz801FixPack8011_readme.txt is the file that lists the changes in this update
  • RPPz_8011_fixpack.pdf is the Installation Guide for this update
