Notes:
(1) ServeRAID 4L will be released in two phases. Phase1 of the 4L will have reduced function that will be restored with the follow-on code release provided in Phase2 of the 4L. The reduced functionality of Phase1 will include:
- No support of Netfinity Director, FlashCopy, Failover, Clustering, Drive Diagnostics, and Hot Plug
- Supported only when used in a Microsoft Windows 2000 or Windows NT environment
- Not supported when mixed with any other type of ServeRAID adapter
The CD-ROM FRU# will remain the same although the version of code will change over time. Customers may download or order an updated CD-ROM via Puborder as listed at the Code's file download location. Only the firmware and code level will change between phases, the base card will remain the same. This will require that the base cards in the Phase1 period are flashed up to the phase2 level of firmware when they are used to replace Phase2 level base cards.
(2) If you are installing a ServeRAID 4 family controller in an IBM eServer xSeries 235 or xSeries 345, you will need to purchase option part number 71P8995 "Ultra160 Single Drop LVD SCSI Cable (internal RAID) for internal drive configurations. The existing cable supplied in the system will not fit. This cable replaces the option part number 33P3168 "Single drop option cable".
(3) The IBM ServeRAID-4M Ultra160 SCSI Controller is powered by a 100MHz Intel i960 processor, provides 64MB of battery-backed ECC cache, and has two Ultra160 channels. Each channel can be accessed by either a 68-pin ANSI standard internal or an 0.8-mm VHDCI external connector.
