Simple Network Time Protocol (SNTP) application is a time-maintenance application that you can use to synchronize hardware in a network.

You can use the IBM® i operating system as an SNTP server, an SNTP client,an NTP client, or running an SNTP server and one kind of client at the same time. You can specify the amount of time that client can vary from, the time is provided by a time server and allowed by client for adjustments to keep the client clock synchronized. This function is particularly important in the use of network authentication service.
