Restoring save file data

You can save a save file to tape or optical media with the Save Save File Data (SAVSAVFDTA) command.

When you restore the save file, it appears as though the data originally came from the same type of save media. You can use the Restore Object (RSTOBJ), Restore Library (RSTLIB), Restore Object (RST), Restore Document Library Object (RSTDLO), Restore Configuration (RSTCFG), or Restore User Profiles (RSTUSRPRF) commands to restore the data.

You can save file data to tape or optical media by using the Save Library (SAVLIB), Save Object (SAVOBJ), or Save Changed Object (SAVCHGOBJ) commands. If you specified SAVFDTA(*YES) on the save command, you must restore the save file before you can restore the objects in the save file.
