Method 2: Creating a new time zone with the proper DST values

If you are using an IBM-supplied time zone, you can create a new time zone based on the supplied time zone to avoid the problem of having jobs scheduled during the starting or ending of daylight saving time (DST).

To create a new time zone with the proper DST values, perform the following steps:
  1. From System i® Navigator, expand My Connections > system-name > Configuration and Service > Time Management > Time Zones.
  2. View the time zones listed in the Available time zones field and select the time zone that you want to copy.
  3. Click New Based On.
  4. Specify a time zone Identifier.
  5. Ensure that the time zone properties on the General page are correct.
  6. On the Daylight Saving Time page, specify the daylight saving time start or end time. Ensure that the start or end time does not conflict with time-sensitive programs.
  7. After you have specified all of the time zone properties, click OK to create the time zone.
  8. Select the time zone from the list of available time zones.
  9. Click Change system value.
  10. Click OK to confirm the system value change.
  11. Click OK to close the Time Zones dialog box.
If you created this time zone to use temporarily, you need to change the Time zone (QTIMZON) system value back to the original time zone after the DST change.
