Hardware-accelerated in-kernel cryptography

LPAR mode z/VM guest KVM guest

The Linux® kernel implements cryptographic operations for kernel subsystems like dm-crypt and IPSec. Applications can use these operations through the kernel cryptographic API.

In-kernel cryptographic and checksum operations can be performed by platform-specific implementations instead of the generic implementations within the Linux kernel.

On IBM Z, hardware-accelerated processing is available for some of these operations.
