claw.5355ea <bus ID of the CLAW device>: Deactivating <network interface name> completed with incorrect subchannel status (read <read subchannel status>, write <write subchannel status>)

Explanation

When the Common Link Access to Workstation (CLAW) device driver closes a CLAW device, the device driver frees all storage that is used for the device. A successful closing operation results in status DEVICE END and CHANNEL END for both the read and write subchannel. At least one of these statuses is missing for a subchannel. Data might have been lost and there might be problems when the network interface is activated again.

User response

If the network interface cannot be activated, vary the subchannels for the device offline and back online, for example, with chchp. If this does not resolve the problem, reset the remote channel adapter.
