Data mining — Name mapping and taxonomy

Name mapping and taxonomy are defined in the logical data specification of your mining task. For more information refer to Defining a name mapping in the logical data specification.

Consider the following for an association mining run or a sequence rules mining run:

Name mapping and taxonomy only act on the field values and never on the field name, even if the item name is a combination of field name and field value.
For example, assume the field 'account type' contains the value 'C1'. You choose the item format such that the item name is 'account type = C1'. Now you want to apply a name mapping to replace the abbreviation 'C1' by the more meaningful term 'checking basic'. To do this, your name mapping must contain the entry 'C1' ==> 'checking basic', that is, the field value and the mapped field value without the field name. The same applies to the definition of a taxonomy.
If you have chosen the item format field value, any name mapping and any taxonomy defined on an item field automatically acts on all other item fields as well. If item format field name = field value is active, the name mappings and taxonomies only act on the item fields for which they have been explicitly defined in the logical data specification.
Name mappings and taxonomies defined for an item field are disregarded if item format field name was chosen.
