Backup and restore enhancements

  • BRMS has been enhanced to use IBM Cloud Storage Solutions for i. Including:
    • providing support for cloud remote restores.
    • using ASP and IASP storage for cloud transfers which enables virtual media access in High Availability (HA) environments.
    • support for data archiving to a cloud location.
  • The SAVLIBBRM command parameter has the new default of OBJJRN(*YES)
  • The Libraries to omit (OMITLIB) parameter and the Objects to omit (OMITOBJ) parameter have been added to the Restore Library using BRMS (RSTLIBBRM) command and the Objects to omit (OMITOBJ) parameter has been added to the Restore Object using BRMS.
  • Command line support for users needing to change control group attributes previously only accessible through the GUI interface.
  • BRMS creates a default *OBJ list named QALLSPLF to backup all spooled files.
  • BRMS has been enhanced to support a FlashCopy time stamp when doing Full System Flash Copies.

Report enhancements

  • Recovery report (QP1ARCY) steps "Recovery Operating System" and "Verify System Information" have been enhanced to include system value information from the saved system.
  • The DSPLOGBRM command timestamp has been enhanced for improved date/time tracking accuracy.
  • The DSPLOGBRM command now supports lists of message identifiers on the MSGID() parameter.
  • The Analyze Libraries using BRMS (ANZLIBBRM) report has been enhanced to better estimate the amount of time Integrated File System (*LINK) data will take to save.
  • To improve recovery times, the BRMS recovery report with Domino® recovery has been enhanced to remove an IPL step.
  • BRMS Enterprise report definitions have been enhanced to allow values other than *LCL to be specified for the From system (FROMSYS) parameter on the Print Report.

Media services enhancements

  • WRKMEDBRM has been enhanced to list all active volumes that are full. In order to list the full volumes.

Performance Enhancements

  • Performance of command STRMNTBRM has been improved when RGZBRMDB(*YES) is specified.
  • Performance of the first incremental save after a full save of *ALLUSR may be improved when SAVACT(*SYNCLIB) is specified.
  • Save performance has been improved when libraries are saved with object level detail and the FlashCopy time is set.

Graphical interface enhancements

BRMS graphical interface refers to the BRMS plug-in for IBM Navigator for i.
  • The BRMS GUI client now allows special value *NONE or blanks to be specified for the Library fields in the System Policy submitted jobs section.
  • WRKLOCBRM and BRMS GUI client 'Manage locations...' will show the current count for volumes and containers on current system.
  • The BRMS GUI New Backup Control Group wizard uses the *OBJ list named QALLSPLF to backup all printer output

Hardware Support

  • Enhanced to support the new 3592 densities:
    • *FMT3592B5 and FMT3592B5E.
    • *FMT3592A6 and FMT3592A6E.
  • Added support for Ultrium 8 (LTO8) tape drives and media.
