Optical device programming

Certain application programming interfaces (APIs) work with IBM i optical file systems. IBM i optical file systems consist of any data storage system that uses optical media, which includes CD-ROM, digital video disc (DVD), Write Once Read Many (WORM) media, and magneto-optical media. IBM i optical file systems are also used on removable mass storage (RMS) media types, such as RDX cartridges.

Programmers can use these APIs to create, access, change, or maintain optical files and directories. You can also use these APIs to customize the use of optical support for specific business applications.
