Installing the tools repository

To use the IBM® Linux on Power tools repository, download and install the ibm-power-repo RPM package and then run /opt/ibm/lop/configure.

The ibm-power-repo RPM package can be downloaded from IBM Power Systems service and productivity tools. The same package is valid for Red Hat Enterprise Linux®, Fedora, CentOS, and SUSE Enterprise Linux Server.

Install the ibm-power-repo RPM package by following these steps:

  1. Download the ibm-power-repo RPM package from IBM Power Systems service and productivity tools.
  2. Install the ibm-power-repo RPM package. Run the command:
    rpm -ivh ibm-power-repo<version number>.noarch.rpm
  3. After you install the RPM package, run the following command by using root user privileges:
    /opt/ibm/lop/configure
  4. Verify that the IBM Tools Repository is available:

    On Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Fedora, or CentOS Linux: yum repolist enabled.

    On SUSE Linux Enterprise Server: zypper lr
