Remember:
- Online upgrade support for protocol nodes depends on which services have been enabled and deployed. Different protocol services have different levels of online upgrade support. For more information, see Online upgrade support for protocols and performance monitoring.
- Offline upgrade can be performed from all supported versions to all supported versions.
- IBM Spectrum Scale installation toolkit can be used for upgrades from version 4.1.1.x onwards.
Upgrade scenario 1: Direct online upgrades from IBM Spectrum Scale version 4.1.1.x to 5.0.x.x cannot be done. Perform an online upgrade to version 4.2.x (4.2.0.x, 4.2.1.x, 4.2.2.x, or 4.2.3.x) and then do another online upgrade to version 5.0.x.x. However, offline upgrade from version 4.1.1.x to 5.0.x.x can be done.
Upgrade scenario 2: Online upgrade from IBM Spectrum Scale version 4.2.x to 5.0.x.x can be done.
