Name

mksnapassoc - Associate a snapshot rule with a file system or independent file set.  

Syntax

mksnapassoc fileSystem ruleName [-j filesetName] [-c { clusterID | clusterName }]  

Parameters

fileSystem
Specifies the name of the file system. Only rules and snapshot instances pertaining to this file system will be managed.
ruleName
Identifies a globally unique rule identifier. An error is returned if a rule name is not found. Use lssnaprule to list existing rule names.
Using unlisted arguments can lead to an error.  

Options

-j, --filesetName { filSetName }
Specifies the name of the file set. Only rules and snapshot instances pertaining to this file set will be managed. Optional. Only independent file sets apply. Attempts to create a dependent file set snapshot association will lead to an error.
-c, --cluster { clusterID | clusterName }
Selects the cluster for the operation. Use either the clusterID or the clusterName to identify the cluster. Optional.
If this option is omitted then the default cluster, as defined with the setcluster command, is used. Note: this parameter is reserved for future use.
Using unlisted options can lead to an error.  

Description

The mksnapassoc command associates a snapshot rule with a file system or independent file set.  

Example

mksnapassoc deviceName ruleName
Makes an association between the snapshot rule ruleName and device deviceName.
mksnapassoc deviceName ruleName -j filesetName
Makes an association between the snapshot rule ruleName and file set filesetName on device deviceName.

No error - The command was successful.

Syntax Error or Help - The command syntax was incorrect or --help was specified.

No Permission - The user does not have permission to issue the command.

Version Error - Mismatch between the expected and actual version of the software stack.

Communication Error - Communication with other cluster nodes or back-end services failed.

Timeout error - An operation waiting for data did not receive it within the time it expected it.

Input error - An argument or option was invalid.

Server error - An error occurred in a back-end service that caused the command to fail.

Command error - An internal error occurred while executing the command.

Invalid object - An object referenced by an argument or option value does not exist.

Duplicate object - The object to be created already exists.

Not enabled - The command is not enabled on this hardware platform.

Not licensed - The license agreement was not accepted.

User abort - The user aborted the command.
