Reference

The reference topics provide more in-depth information about IBM® InfoSphere® DataStage® and QualityStage®.

You can use these topics to help you extend, customize, and troubleshoot your IBM InfoSphere DataStage and QualityStage jobs.

BASIC language reference
You can use the BASIC language to create routines and transforms for use with server jobs, or with BASIC transformers in parallel jobs.
Reference: Stage Editor user interface
Most of the parallel job stage editors use the same Stage Editor interface. The exceptions are the Transformer, Lookup, Shared Container, and Complex Flat File stages. These topics list the available stage types and describe all the page types and subtypes that are available.
Data masking
Use InfoSphere
DataStage
Pack for Data Masking to mask sensitive data that must be included for analysis, in research, or for the development of new software.
XML transformation
Use the XML stage to create powerful hierarchical transformations, as well as parse and compose XML data with high performance and scalability.
Services stages
The services stages are a group of stages that you can use in parallel or server jobs that are to be deployed as services. Stages for Java™, Web services, and XML are all found in the Real Time section of the palette.
Parallel job reference
Use this reference material to perform more advanced operations with parallel jobs.
Custom operator reference
You can define new operators that can be incorporated into new parallel stages. The new stages can be included in parallel jobs.
InfoSphere QualityStage pattern action reference
You use the Pattern Action language to manipulate data. You can decipher and identify patterns in data, and then perform actions against the data based on the pattern.
National Language Support
When you install InfoSphere
DataStage
with National Language Support (NLS) mode enabled, you can use InfoSphere
DataStage
  in various languages and countries.
Command line interface and API reference
InfoSphere
DataStage
has a command line interface, a C API, and a BASIC interface for controlling jobs. You can use the command line interface to control jobs, administer projects, and search for objects in the repository. You can use the C API and BASIC interface to write programs to control jobs.
Message reference: Parallel engine
The parallel engine generates messages that relate to errors that occur during installation, file writing and reading, and general product usage. The messages describe the types of errors, explain why they occurred, and provide solutions to them.
Operations database schema reference
The operations database stores the monitoring data that is displayed by the IBM InfoSphere DataStage Operations Console.
