How do I insert personalization into an email body, a link, or the subject line?

You can add personalization into your email template body by clicking the email body and then positioning your cursor where you want to insert the personalization. You can insert personalization into an email body, a link, or the subject line of your email template.

About this task

For example, you have a field that is called FirstName in your contact source and you want to insert the contact's given name in your email after the word Dear. Position your cursor and click the insert personalization button from the toolbar menu. Select the field and Acoustic Campaign puts a placeholder into the template.

To insert personalization in your email, complete the following steps.

Procedure

  1. Open your email template.

    Under the Email settings tab is a contact source field.

  2. Select the contact source that you are sending to and which contains your personalization fields.
  3. Save your email.

    You can now add personalization to the subject line, from address, or body content.

  4. Under the Email Settings tab, find the Subject Line field.
  5. In the subject line field, click Personalization and select the field to use for populating the information.

    The placeholder appears in the format %%[field name]%% until you send the email.

Results

When contacts view or open the email, they see information that is specific to them. For example, if you insert personalization for the FirstName field, contacts see their given name.

What to do next

You can preview personalized content in the email template.

  1. Click Test with Contact.
  2. Type the contact's name from the selected contact source in the field.
  3. Click Test.

The contact that you enter is used to populate values for personalization, dynamic content, and relational table data.
