Adding an opt-out link to an email template

Before you send an email, you must add an opt-out link.

About this task

There are four types of opt-out links:

  • Opt-out to page: Creates a link to the opt-out web form. When contacts enter their information and click submit, they are opted out and see a confirmation page.
  • Opt-out one click: Creates a link to opt out for this list. When contacts click submit, they are opted out and see a confirmation screen.
  • Opt-out custom: Creates a link to the custom opt-out web form that you created and host for this email. When contacts enter their information and click submit, they are opted out and see a confirmation screen.
  • Opt-out email: Creates a link that creates an email with the contact's information, populating the to and subject lines, with the word "Unsubscribe" in the subject line. When the contact clicks send, they are automatically unsubscribed from the list.

Procedure

To add an opt-out link to an email, complete the following steps:

  1. Type the link name and then highlight it.
  2. Click Edit/Insert.
  3. In link properties, select one of the opt-out links.
  4. Name the link and Save.

To change the opt-out link, complete the following steps:

  1. Open the email template.
  2. Right-click your link in the email body and select Edit.
  3. In link properties, select another link type.
