Empty or incomplete results log after add only import

Results log and importing contacts

Symptoms

When performing an Import to a Database, and choosing to 'Add new contacts', I see in the Data Job Details page that there are a number of contacts considered 'Duplicate Rows'. When downloading the Results Log, the number of contacts does not show. Why does the results log not contain all the duplicate contacts?

Resolving the problem

For an 'Add new contacts' type import, if a contact with a matching key or sync field already exists on the database, then their record would be considered a duplicate contact on list, and no action would be taken (since Acoustic Campaign can not add/update an existing contact with this import type).

Acoustic Campaign will write records to the result log if the email address exists in the file more than once. But in the case of records that are not added because they already exist in the database, they are simply skipped over and not reported on in the result log, though we do give the number of records that we skipped.
