Installing Control Desk Service Portal on Microsoft Windows

The following instructions explain how to install Control Desk Service Portal on Microsoft Windows.

Before you begin

Service Portal requires node.js. Before you install Service Portal, ensure that you install the node.js that is provided with the installation package and that you add the node location to your path (for example, C:\Program Files\IBM\node\bin).

About this task

Complete the following instructions to install Service Portal on a Microsoft Windows operating system.

Procedure

  1. To start the installation program, go to the directory where you downloaded the Service Portal installation package and run serviceportal.exe.
  2. In the IBM Service Portal window, select your language from the drop-down list and click OK.
  3. In the Introduction window, review the program information and click Next.
  4. In the License Agreement window, review the license agreement, select the radio button to accept the terms of the agreement, and click Next.
  5. In the Choose Install Folder window, accept the default location, type a file path to specify where you want to install the product, or click Choose to browse and select the location that you want. Then, click Next.
  6. In the Configuration window, specify configuration values, and click Next.
    In the Configuration window, you provide values for the config.js file in Service Portal. The following table defines the fields that are displayed for configuration.

    SCCD backend URL URL for the standard IBM Control Desk user interface
    Service Portal port Port number of the server for Service Portal
    Number of Cluster Members Number of clusters in your environment
  7. In the Preinstallation Summary window, review the installation details. (If necessary, click Previous to go back and make corrections, and click Next to return to this window.) When satisfied with the summary data, click Install.
  8. When the installation is finished, in the Installation Complete window, click Done.
