Changing passwords for Control Desk Service Portal

The ability to change passwords is determined by the authentication method that your enterprise uses for IBM Control Desk.

About this task

Password management is determined by the security that is implemented in your enterprise. In some cases, you receive a temporary password for your initial login, and you must change the password when you log in to the portal.

If your product implementation uses standard IBM Control Desk authentication (sometimes referred to as native authentication) for access control, you can change your password any time you log in. If you have another authentication method, such as LDAP, this feature is not available. If the feature is available, a My Profile option is displayed in the header of the UI in the menu that is next to your display name.

If your enterprise uses native authentication, you can log in to Control Desk Service Portal and complete the following steps to change your password.

Procedure

  1. On the home page, select the menu next to your display name.
  2. Click My Profile.
  3. Click Change Password.
  4. In the Current Password field, enter your existing password.
  5. Enter the new password in the New Password and Confirm Password fields.
  6. Click Save.
