Welcome to the IBM Netezza Performance Portal

The IBM® Netezza® Performance Portal is a web-based administrative client for managing and monitoring IBM Netezza Performance Server systems.

You can use the portal to manage and monitor one or more Netezza systems through a web browser. Using the portal, you can do the following tasks:

• Obtain hardware status and summary information for the Netezza system
• Display information about the active queries and active sessions on the Netezza systems and obtain a summary of the recent finished queries
• View and manage the databases and their objects on the system, including the ability to create, alter, drop, rename, and change privileges for objects
• View and manage the Netezza database users and groups
• Review the events and configured event templates for the system
• Review monitoring charts that show the trends of performance and activity for the Netezza system, and create custom monitoring charts
• Run SQL queries on the Netezza systems
• Review the query history for the systems and obtain more information about query performance and impacts

You can use the portal to answer questions about system usage, workload, capacity planning, and overall query performance. You can examine the current workload of a Netezza system to filter and explore historical queries and activity. You can check the status of the hardware components of the system, and perform some common administration tasks for the monitored systems.

You can use the Netezza Performance Portal reports to obtain details about workload and query performance, encumbrances (activities such as loads, queries, rollbacks, and groom table operations that can impact query performance), and query status. You can compare the runtimes for similar queries to observe the performance of queries over time.

The Netezza Performance Portal application uses both active monitoring queries and query history data (if enabled) to summarize the system activity. You must enable the query history capabilities on the Netezza systems that you monitor to use the history analysis.
