Disk space requirements
Ensure that the system you choose has the necessary disk space for Q Replication or Event Publishing to meet expected performance demands. The main installation-time requirements include Db2® and IBM® MQ.
The total amount of required disk space is the sum of the components that are listed in Table 1, with slight variation depending on the product installed.
- If you plan to use a target other than a Db2 database, you can specify which type of database while installing replication, and the installation program installs a relational wrapper for that database.
- If a compatible edition of Db2 Version 9.7 database system is not already installed, Db2 Restricted Enterprise Edition will be installed.
- The installer needs temporary disk space while the product is being installed.
Operating system | Relational wrappers | Db2 | Installer |
---|---|---|---|
AIX 5L | 5-20 | 490-630 | 50-80 |
HP-UX | 5-20 | 510-640 | 50-80 |
Linux® | 5-20 | 380-480 | 50-80 |
Solaris | 5-20 | 530-640 | 50-80 |
Windows | 5-20 | 390 | 50-80 |
Additional disk space considerations:
- The disk space requirements vary depending on your configuration and the type of disk drive that you have.
- Windows: Significantly more disk space might be required on FAT drives with large cluster sizes than NTFS drives.
- Include required client software and communication products when you calculate the amount of disk space that is needed for your installation.
