Can I migrate from an older version like v4 to the latest version? How do I migrate my users and groups?
Copy over the private data per instructions and be sure to restart the Service Manager.
How do I migrate my certificates from older version or different server?
Copy the CustomizedCAs.p12 file from your publish directory to newer or different server's publish directory (../hostondemand/HOD).
For migration purposes, how are HTML page values used from multiple HOD servers behind a load balancer?
The version.txt file found in the ../hostondemand/HOD/HODData/<pagename> directory created with the Deployment Wizard maintains the version of the HTML file. The file contains one property: "InformationVersion=<value>". When you create any HTML file, the value of this property is 1. Subsequent changes to the HTML file increases the value by one. If you create the same named HTML page on a different server and access it from the same client through the load balancer, the page will be migrated if the other server is actually accessed instead of the original. This is caused by the UID property found in cfgx.df (client side config file) and cfgx.cf (server side config file) being different. If the property value is same in both files on the different servers, the client will not migrate.
If you upgrade a Windows server, for example, from version 2000 to 2003 or 2003 to 2008, will the client reload the cache's client after Windows is upgraded, assuming the server hostname remains the same?
The operating system upgrade should retain all installed programs and can be started once the upgrade is complete. The server should work without issues as long as the web server on the system starts and works. The cached client should not reload as long as the hostname of the server remains the same. and should work the way it did before the upgrade.
